EAC + LAME works great for me. Just rip a bunch of stuff and then encode them all to mp3 overnight. Basically, you just download/install EAC, download/install the LAME .exe, tell EAC where lame.exe is and that's about it. You can look up file/album/artist names automatically using the FreeDB database, configure how each file is named once it's encoded, etc. It's pretty spiffy.

I like Cdex for freeware.. It lets you rip tracks straight to mp3, uses CDDB, and can use lame or radium. (I choose lame.)

I like Audiograbber for shrink wrap.. $20.. It lets you do all of the things that Cdex does, but with a nicer interface (IMO), and it lets you chop songs before you rip them. ie: so that you can rip the last track that has the normal song and 'secret' song as two separate tracks with no silence.
