I don't know what kind of question this is... but here goes.

It's perfectly legal and most people would say ethical and moral to copy a TV show to a VCR tape for personal use. It's also perfectly legal and moral etc. to transfer that copy into digital format, or even record directly to digital using a TV card or Tivo thingie as long as it's for personal use. So, if a person were to record from MTV, then re-encode from A/V to just audio for personal use, is that legal, moral, or ethical? And what is the difference between this method of assembling a personal music or entertainment collection and getting it other ways? I'm interested to know what you think of this situation.

well there are actually laws against taping TV programs and movies that are aired on TV... TECHNICALLY you can only keep it for 30days, and after that, you have to erase it...

mp3s are like taping dvd quality movies with all the bonuses without commercials for free:p u get it now? Also ease of distribution.. so comparing it to tv is a little weak.
