Why does ID3v2 take so long to change?

Because there are more data fields in id3v2 compared to id3v1, although it shouldn't be 'noticably' longer to change when editing. The only time where there is a pause when adding id3v2 data is when there is none tagged to the mp3 and it has to be created first.

ID3v2 are located at the beginning of the file, when you update the tags the whole file has to be re-written.
