I am considering a MP3 player..

I have a 6cd changer and single cd player in my car...I really like the cd quality on playback

I realize MP3 formats are more compressed...so I want to get as good as possible on audio playback quality

So is one MP3 better..ie Ipod, Zune, Zen etc

It is all in how the car audio is going to receive that audio. Go with a line-in and either of those MP3 players will work. Because if you use a FM transmitter or a tape input, you will hear a decrease in quality.

use 320kbs cbr and youll have a good start. i believe there can be a big difference in sq between different players, but ipod's, zunes, sansa's and creatives stuff all sound good enough. just be careful when you get into the off-brand or cheap players.

The quality of sound heard is greatly dependent on the final transducers or amplifier - speaker system. In a car, they will all probably sound the same.
