MP3 player with the best recording quality?

I need an mp3 player that I want to hook up to a mixer and a microphone. What's the best hard drive player to use? I know the iRiver player has this function but I can't find the specs anywhere (the s/n ratio, etc.). Thanks!

If you want a quality final output, then get a minidisc player instead.

I have a minidisk player/recorder. Just wondered about using a hard drive mp3 player instead (dragging and dropping the sound files sounds insteading of capturing the audio sounds appealing). Solid state is an option but very expensive.

True, unless you start compressing then it start to degrade. I gave up on minidisks, had 3 of em and got rid of em when I got the ipod.
