Creative Centrale, Songbird, MediaMonkey, Windows Media Player - all suck. They are either extremely slow or don't work properly with my Zen X-Fi.

Any other software out there?

You could try redchair software, though the anapod doesn't seem to play well with Vista, not sure which OS you are using.

i used redchair's notmad for my old player, the Zen Xtra, and loved it. that software was really good. the site doesn't show support for vista nor for the new Zen X-fi. i did email and ask if they were planning on making a version that would work with it.

it won't work with my new player because its tied to the zen xtra player somehow, i guess.

i didn't realize they had a trial version. i'll download that and see if it actually works. if it does, then i'll see about getting my current full version transferred to work with the X-Fi

I used to use it on my Ipod back in the day and it worked well.

I didn't even know winamp could do it. I'll check it out.

hmmm...maybe i am wrong. seems that when the notmad software is connected to the zen x-fi, i am unable to copy anything from folder to folder. this goes for any files, not just mp3s.

You're on Vista right? Yea so things aren't working like they did on XP with redchairsoftware, I've been having issues with anapod on my install of vista. So I use it on my laptop where I still have XP loaded. One of the known Vista issues is not being able to copy/paste anything, I think you need to shutdown the red chair software. Also you can't just drag and drop like you did in XP. The work around I found for sending music to the player is to select one or two items, right click and go to send to ipod/whatever device and once the transfer status screen comes up you can drag and drop additional files into the transfer window. Hope this helps.

yeah, using Vista. I reinstalled Songbird and I think I just needed to spend a little more time figuring things out. Seems to be working out ok so far now.

I still wouldn't touch Creative Centrale with a 10 foot pole. I can't get it to do anything without it locking up on me

looks like J. River Media Center 12 might be what I go with. Sucks that it costs $40, but so far it seems to be the only one that is fast and works reliably.

Why is syncing MP3 files between folders or computers or drives any different than any other file format? The easy tool is Explorer.

i'm using a creative zen x-fi. yes, they all work with non-ipods (and probably ipods as well) but good luck getting them to work properly, except for J river media center 12 - it's the only one I could get to work without any problems.

explorer also puts every single file in its own folder, plus it won't let me delete files once they're on the mp3 player.

I'm going to try that J River one now, thanks Pont

ugh and of course it doesn't detect my Samsung YPT-9. This is turning into a nightmare to deal with.
