I'm looking to get an mp3 player soon... considering a video player too...

few questions

Do good ones act as a hard drive (ie not have to sync up like apple ipods do) with the mp3s along with files?

How are the video ones? I have a ton of stuff I tivo to XviD format, do i have to reencode what i want to watch on these? how long does that take?

I've used an ipod in the past and that was amazing, but i can't stand the synch up... i just want to xfer files in via a program or explorer..

My brother uses a creative mp3 player, its lasted him a few years and its pretty sweet

I also need at least 30 gigs ... i have a huge collection

well, i am not going to start an arguement about iPods, but all you need to do is enable disk use in iTunes and you can transfer anything you want. Although i have an iPod and it is great, i think that the perfect player for you is the Creative Zen Vision M. it can play videos, including Xvid and Divx, and has 30gigabyte. the only thing you might need to do is lower the resolution of the videos to match, and you're set to go! it even has an FM tuner! enjoy.
