mp3 player dilemma

i'm driving back to maryland from missouri on wednesday and coming back on sunday. as you can imagine, i'd need something to listen to for the 16.5 hours.

i was borrowing my friend's ipod, but she's going to england for a week and needs it back. so, i'm rendered mp3 playerless and i don't have the funds for a new one...

so, my question is if i go to compusa and buy a crappy mp3 player like some a creative brand one or whatever else, can i still return it? i know i can't return ipods, so that's why i'm asking if i can return the other ones... if so, i could just use it and whenever i get back from my trip home, i can return it.

EDIT: it turns out that i can return an ipod, but it'd have to be in brand new condition... i just don't want to risk it because i know they're kinda easy to scuff.

yeah you don't even need your receipt to return it. just buy one, open the package, and listen to it. i did it once, and they took the mp3 player back without the original packaging too. sure why not.

how am i an idiot? i can afford it, but i can't afford to keep it. i need to get a new amp and speakers for my car. by buying an mp3 player, i won't have the money to fix my car audio.

by getting the mp3 player, i'll at least be able to listen to something for the 16.5 hour drive.
