MP3 Player Choice, which would you pick?

Hi guys,

I've got a choice... between the Creative Zen Micro 5gb, Ipod Mini 4 gb, Rio Carbon 5gb, Creative Nomad Zen 30gb. They are all roughly within the same price.. however the Rio Carbon is 40$ cheaper than the others.

Capacity isn't that important to me.. I barely have any mp3s on this machine.. maybe a gb.

So far I've heard that the battery life of the Ipon Mini 4gb is crap, and that the battery isn't covered by warranty.

The others I don't really know that much.. any advice?

Thanks,

Ryan

Go with the Ipod Mini if the looks is important to you.

Go with the Zen micro 5gb if you want the FM tuner function

Go with the Rio Carbon if you want to save the $40.

Go with the Zen 30gb if you want bigger hdd and don't mind the bulky size.

Personally, I would choose Zen Micro for it's functions and replaceable/removable battery. It also looks OK in my opinion.

umm.. the battery is covered by warranty..... and I would say go to best buy/compusa and take a look for yourself. you probably can't go wrong w/ any of them, it just boils down to a personal preference on the player... unless you're looking for something specific like having FM and voice recording.

You should get the Creative Zen Touch 20GB. They sport a 26 hour battery life as tested on CNET.com.

Only drawback I see is that if you want to transfer ANYTHING at all, you need to install their weak Nomad Explorer. I think you need the Nomad Explorer for mp3s and not for regular data transferring.

the muvo^2 isn't a bad player just click and drag on files. the apple ipod battery is indeed covered under warranty and the service for the battery can be exteded an extra 2 years if you were to buy the applecare for $50 or something.

Creative models only come with a 90 day warranty so buy from a vendor that sells extended / replacement warranties, expect to pay around $20 for 1-year or $30 for 2-year.

I've only had my Zen Xtra 30 GB for a couple of days now but I like it so far. The Normad Explorer works OK for copying MP3 files to the drive or you can buy a third-party replacement from Red Chair

Hah...even ass vote, that sucks man. Just go with your gut instinct. I'd say iPOD though just seeing as though it's tried and true for ease of use and overall functionality.
