Mp3 player and my car

I recently got a NW-HD5 mp3 player. I really enjoy this player. It has great sound and all the space I will ever need. The only problem I have right now is that I cant play it in my car. I have a 93 Camry SE. It has a head unit that is as old as the car...the original. Its bigger then a regular so i dont think i can just replace it as easy as it would be for a regular size one. And besides..it works great no problems at all.

I want to be able to hook up my mp3 player to my car so I can listen to it on my long drives. I tried using the tape deck converter thing but for some reason my cassette player doesnt want to work with it. It will play for 1 sec and then pop it back out like its the end of tape..I guess they just arnt compatable.

Any other suggestions? Cheap is good.

Yes I tried both sides.

I had that issue in an old Previa, too. Never could get it to work.

Yeah, that would probably be your only other option unless you're willing to get an aftermarket stereo. I have yet to see an adapter that will work with your model year of Camry.

As for the aftermarket stereo, the cheapest way would probably be with a CD player (start at $80) and an Aux-3.5mm adapter ($20). Way more than an FM transmitter ($30) but the quality would be much better in that you're staying digital versus going over the air. In addition, you'd add CD capability if you didn't have it before and more power to your speakers.

I guess ill have to go with the dang radio thing. I really didnt want to do that becuase I love good sound quality. Getting a new head unit woudlnt be good either. The damn camry has the original one in it....its huge takes up the space that two normally would. Also the CD player in the original still works fine.

Is there any way to hard wire it in..or pull it out and plug it into the back?

I dont know much about cars.

You could probably find an installation kit at crutchfield to install a standard size head unit and replace the existing HU with one that has direct inputs on the front.

Not sure if you wanted to spend that much though.
