I switched from Winamp to WMP9 recently, and I noticed that MP3's sound slightly different, and in my opinion better in Winamp. The equalizer settings are both at default flat. Why do they sound different, and how can I improve the way it sounds?

Windows Media Player has some "advanced" tweaking options like Mega Bass, virtual surround, etc... Check those out. Also, download the Mad Plugin for WinAmp, it supposedly really improves sound quality.

my recommendation is don't use any plugin yet.... use wmp's or winamp's EQ and effects first., then try with your soundcard's EQ on it's control panel (if any).. if it doesn't help, try thoes plugins.

The thing is I'm not very good with the EQ, and I listen to a wide variety of music of different types. So I might make one type sound good, but then when I listen to another it sounds like crap.
