MP3 or WMA?

hey guys, i was just going through my mp3 player and i have tons of mp3s that i have encoded about 4 years ago with lame at 192 with no tags. I was thinking it would be easier to use rip again with a newer lame version with 192 vbr. I haven't ripped MP3s in forever, is EAC still good to use with Lame? Also what's the latest verison of Lame that's stable and good?

Another idea approached when i was talking to a friend and he said he uses WMA. He said he uses a lower bitrate (128?) and the file is smaller and is equivilant to a mp3 192vbr. But i heard it kills your mp3 player battery due to more encoding... is that correct?

Any advice highly appreciated!

The easiest ripper for me is AudioGrabber. That results in WAV files that are easily encoded using RazorLAME - a complete Windows version of LAME. The top VBR works beautifully and does a great job of stocking my Zen Vision device.

I am now archiving stacks of CDs converted to MP3 albums on DVD+R disks. One hold about 50 albums. Saves a ton of space.

dbPowerAmp can add tags to all of your existing MP3s if they are organized in folders ( Artist > Album ) and start with track numbers.
