I recently acquired both a game theater xp and a sony mz-r70 minidisc recorder. For the past few days, I've been trying to get the digital recording to work correctly. I've connected the optical cable to the rack on my gtxp and md recorder and I've set up a playlist in both winamp and MP3 2 MiniDisc with a 3 second gap between tracks. However, instead of doing what the recorder should as stated in the manual of adding a track mark when there is a 2 second gap the recorder keeps on recording one large track. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try setting all the volumes in the GTXP control panel to mute except the line out/main volume which you can crank up.

Here's a really neat trick!
Under sound recorder, unplug *all* recording devices and record a 5 second wave of pure, digital silence.

Then set up your MP3 playlist like this.

1.Song1
2.Silence.wav
3.Song2
4.Silence.wav
5.Song3
6.Silence.wav
7.Song4
8.Silence.wav

etc etc yadayadayada............
Takes a little extra time, but it works.

Too bad you don't have live/audigy soundcard.. since both of those have software to record to minidisc players called "Creative minidisc center"

<< You wouldn't be able to email me this wav would you? >>

Just go to sound recorder & record a muted input :)

<< Scootin - how would you randomize the tracks when you play them? :) >>

you could tell the md player to play randomly when you listen to it ;)

No no, mute all *Inputs* then record a 10 second wave in startmenu>programs>accessories>entertainment>soundrecorder, it should be digitally silent. As in a wav of silence. Then insert it between all your tracks and you're good to go.

Playlist should look like this

1.Song1
2.The wave you just recorded.wav
3.Song2
4.The wave you just recorded.wav
5.Song3
6.The wave you just recorded.wav
etc.... play this in winamp and your MD player will recognize this. Because the silence gap between tracks for an MD player is 5 seconds, not 3... so we'll just use 10 just to be safe.
