So I'm noticing that my Windows Media Player will let me make *.wma's and not .mp3's, unless I want to pay to get some add on. Typical MS move, huh? Are there any freeware add on's i could get instead?

use musicmatch jukebox for an easy fix, or use EAC to rip .wav files from the CD and a LAME encoder to convert wav to MP3s for "professional" level stuff...

EAC is the best ripper ever, and its free, so use it.

Use EAC and lame. If you're going to go to the trouble of ripping do it right and make a quality mp3.

Use lame.exe for the encoder. You can configure EAC to use it. :)

Ok, so I now have EAC set up to use LAME to encode my mp3's, but they are coming out blank. I tried just converting to *.wav files and ended up with 12 40meg+ files that seem to have no audio at all. Any idea what would have caused this?
