MP3 Disortion/Problems

Lately when I have downloaded music, not all but some, I have found them to be extremely distorted about 20-30 seconds into the song.. it will all of a sudden make a high pitched annoying sound and close Windows Media Player pretty much. This just happened as I was trying to get the newer DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL cd. I even tried downloading multiple copies and still the same thing. I have had it happen before as well. Anyone know what I am talking about or has anyone experienced this? Please help!
