I sold my MD player over a half year ago thinking I would have a Mambox by summer but it never came out! So which is the best under $200?

I don't want a Rio or a Rio clone or whatever..I just want a MP3 *CD* Player.

Thanks,

I was watching Fresh Gear this afternoon.. and SumiDas was reviewing the MamboX for $199
Apparently its out.. however she gave it the worst review I can think of.
She said it skipped on audio cd's and for mp3's .. well its not much.
She also check on the I-Jam CD based MP3 player but it seemed to be the same as the MTrip with a additional set of head phones with a cost of $150.. whereas the Mtrip is about $110.

check out freshgear's website.. at:
Mtrip Vs. I-Jam
and
Mambo X

As far as name brand car cd/mp3 players I think Aiwa and Kenwood are your only choices at the moment.

I checked the Aiwa one out.. feels sort of like plastic.. very very cheap plastic..
I was planning to upgrade my car stereo with one.. but I decided.. to keep my exisiting setup and get an Mtrip..

I bought the EXPanium this last week, and here's what I can tell you about it:
1. Some people on the web have complained about it not being solidly built, I have found it to be the most solid build of the five or six diskmen that I have owned,(one Aiwa the rest Sony's in the $100 price range)
2. Battery life using Kodak Photolife battery's has been 12-14 hours, better than the claimed 10 hours.
3. Played all bitrates I have including VBR, known rates that I have tried 32, 128 256 192VBR.
4. Recognized and played all MP3's I have given it(burned using CDRWIN DAO).
5. Easy to navigate from folder to folder.
6. Using Grado SR80's IMHO it sounds great. I haven't tried the earbuds that come with it.
7. It is probably a little overpriced, but right now it is the only CD MP3 player out that will play bitrates 32 - 320, went for the extended warrenty at CC for $25 and if it craps out in the next 2 years I get my money back. If I get 2 solid years out of it (and I intend to use it a lot) to me it is worth it.
8. Display can be a little confusing but I am sure I will get used to it.
9. Soon there will be better cheaper players, but life is short so I don't feel like waitng anymore, and for what it is I think this is a very good product.

I was thinking about going to CC all day today. I finally got my ass off of the computer and went and bought one. I got the last one in stock! So far it really kicks ass. I'm glad I went and got it today! I just burned a CD with 250 MP3s on it. I wont be bored this whole week!

Thanks for all of your opinions.

Hi all, I am looking into getting an MP3 portable CD player too. I wanted to know if anyone else has had the opportunity to try out any new models!

These new players seem like the way of the future but, at this time, are they just a little too gimmicky? or are we getting quality players in the market?

Thanks.

I haven't been let down with my Philips eXpanium. It plays 10 hours on 2 AAs, plays all bit-rates, easy to browse, not cheapo plastic. I love this thing!
