Our Canon MP530 just up-and-died on Sunday. I'd like to get a replacement that also has individual ink tanks, not combined color tanks, and preferably cheaper ink is available from a third-party/generic supplier such as LD Products (or others).

Any recommendations for not more than $120 (not MSRP)? TIA!

Here's what I do, it may or may not be something you are comfortable with. ^_^

I have bought used MP830's (either in full working order or needing repairs that were minimal expense and in my skill set).

MP830's can scan, copy or print both sides of the paper automatically at good speeds, better that either the MP530 or MX479.
They are not wireless as the MX479.
They are available on Ebay for about $100 shipped, if you shop.

The good part is they have 5 separate ink tanks.
1 pigment black, 1 magenta, 1 cyan, 1 yellow, and 1 std. black.
The same carts as your old mp530.

Ink carts are available on Ebay for less than $1.20 each (depending on quantity).
Print heads are also still available on Ebay for less than $80 if you wear one out.

You can compare all 3 models here -

I took it back and got the PIXMA MG5522 for the same price. So far, no complaints. It has separate color tanks like I wanted, not the same tanks as the MP series but similar and available cheaply from generic/third-party. A tad more noisy than the MP530 is all, but faster, too.
