MP chip in an XP system??

I purchased 2 2000+ MP chips for myself, and a 1900+ XP chip for my friend to build, but they sent me all MP chips! Now I have an MP board but my friend does not. can he load win XP on it anyway with no problems??? His system so far:

MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU
AMD 1900+MP (was supposed to be XP)
Jaton Geforce3 Ti200
WD 40 GB HDD
24x CD-ROM
et. al.

What do you think???

I would sell the MP and buy an xp with the money and pocket the rest. It should work though. btw are the mpz multipier locked?

Well since I couldn't make any money off of it (if I sent it back, they would just give me the correct order of an xp 1900+), and my friend was impatient, we put it in.

Initially it was seen as a 1200 mHz chip, but thaty was because the board's default setting was at 100Mhz FSB. inside the BIOS i set the FSB to 133, but all I could get for multiplier rates was x10.5 and x14.0. now since 14x would put it at 1.8 Ghz I went to 10.5x.

Upon restarting, the BIOS then recognized it as an XP 1600+, which was still under the capabilities, but I couldn't change it. So then I loaded win XP and continued with building his comp. After talking to him, I decided to take another look at it and lo and behold, new multiplier rates became available to me! 11, 12, and 12.5/13! I took twelve which gave me a rate of 1.596 MHz. upon restarting, I then was recognized as an XP 1900+,

I will keep you informd on the stability. If it gets destroyed, I'd return it due to them giving me the wrong merchandise to begin with.
