Looking forward to it. I hope it will be more stable/less buggy than Android and more functional than iOS which is just a glorified firmware device IMO.

Moto will not be updating the DroidX2 to ICS which is totally BS because it is fully capable of handling it. I think some people have installed ICS on Droid X2 phones, but I really don't know if it's true or how well it works. But I do know my next phone will NOT be a Motorola for that reason and that reason alone.

I have since installed the Eclipse ROM on my phone and it does run noticeably better in every measurable way, but it's still not a stable or reliable as my iPhone 3GS was.
As for iOS, it's very easy to use, very stable and reliable. But all of that comes at the expense of limited functionality..... just my .02.

android is pretty buggy and, like windows it gets more unstable the longer youve had it and the more software you install. in the last month the stock browser on my phone has started to spontaneously crash and the "return" button doesnt always work (its fine on boat)

im all for these new os's, it will force new, non contract ways of selling fones and at lower prices. so they can build a nexus 7 for $200 with a quad core and high res screen and yet a galaxy s3 is $600? gimma axe a brayke!

LOL- Android is pretty damn stable after 4.1, and it took several versions to get there. I can imagine that clusterf*** of bugs in an (unneeded) new Firefox OS.

More operating systems the better. Android is a half closed spy box. I prefer systems made by companies committed to open standards, rather than money.

Before I installed Ecplise on my phone, my phone would crash constantly. even after re install, it was guaranteed to crash at least once a day. That and browser would freeze and various other bugs.

Now that it has eclipse, it rarely crashes and my biggest complaint now is that bluetooth will just quit working for no reason and require a reboot.

Lol, will if the Chrome vs Firefox analogy holds to mobile OSes for desktops, FirefoxOS should be an improvement over Android lol.

I say we call it FireOS.

you think firefox is mo' bitta than chrome on desktops? id disagree with that. the only reason i have firefox is that eventually chrome starts stuttering youtube videos, so its basically useless for video...

It mostly comes down to reliability. Yes chrome is faster, but by the time you get your addons on to make it like FF it's just as slow. Not to mention that it does tend to choke up on video from time to time.

So I just stick with what works best.

I doubt the phone will ever sell well in a retail store. It's an enthusiast's phone OS and probably won't have much of an impact on the consumer market. The fact that it is yet another app store more or less kills it before it can get started. Windows Phone 8 gets knocked for a low app count and it's at about 150,000 now.

chrome has much better scrolling, something that simple can make one browser much more comfortable to use...

Well at least if you're on a Firefox phone you won't have to worry about updates. You'll be on version 20 before the first year of ownership is through....

a little late to the mobile os game, but ok...

Yeah, if even Microsoft with their marketing and R&D muscle and finding it difficult to make a space for themselves then it's going to be really difficult for a new open source OS.

uh, thats why theyre targeting ghetto countries first with ultracheap firefox phones. firefox is going to be cheap/low end not expensive like microsucks phones

so based on the browser, there will be a full update weekly and the version number will grow randomly

also do the plan pn putting 8 gigs of ram into a phone so it wont crash?

The problem is companies that don't make money...well...don't stay companies for long. You'll notice that Mozilla is a fraction of the size they once were.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean about "half closed". You can do anything you want with Android. Any locks are put in place by the carriers, not Google.

Really? Because I can't even create a raw sector-by-sector image of an Android tablet like I can with a Windows PC or a Mac.
