mozilla vs firefox?

ive been using mozilla (most recently 1.6) and have been giving firefox a shot... so far firefox looks more polished and modern, however its got a couple features different from mozilla that are stupid. why why why!!!?

- whatever happened to 'bookmark this group of tabs'? that was good stuff. and opening a bookmark with multiple tabs in it was good too! i dont always want to open the whole folder!

- why did they rearrange the option menu when you right click tabs? bah. i open new tabs instead of closing tabs now. stupid stupid stupid....

- this one is probably an option in about:config somewhere.... i want to add on to the current tabs when i open a group of tabs, not close them all and start from scratch.

BAH. whats mozilla 1.7 like? i :heart: 1.6

Right click, choose "Bookmark this page...", check "Bookmark all tabs in a folder". There's probably better ways, but that's what I've got off the top of my head.

I contend that Mozilla does it wrong and Firefox does it right. Get used to it...

Unlike Hype-fox, Mozilla is a well-developed product that doesn't radically change its design from one minor version (1.x) to another (1.y). You probably won't notice many of the differences - there *IS* a major performance improvement that went into 1.7, and various small bugs are fixed. I'd suggest updating.

A lot of preference panel options were removed from Firefox because Mozilla's preference panel just has way too many options for an "average" user to hunt through. Since I usually know where to find an option, it isn't a problem for me, but a new user doesn't really want to hunt through 20 pages to find one option.

Never used Firefox but I now have Mozilla 1.73.

I doubt you can tell the difference from what you are using but install it to bring it up to date.

Now that most people accept Firefox/Mozilla as the better browser over IE, are we going to start debating between Mozilla and Firefox?

I prefer Firefox, mostly due to some extensions I don't wanna live without(TBE, Mousegestures, Adblock, Flashblock).

That's funny, since all of those extensions work with Mozilla.

edit: In fact, some or all of those (for example, TBE) existed before Phoenix, let alone Firebird or Firefox.

Wow, didn't know that, in fact, I didn't really start using extensions until Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox came around, since it wasn't really touted as a feature in any serious way.

wow... i just installed mozilla 1.7 and thankfully its the same as 1.6 was... whew. everything about mozilla is better! the tab options, the way the preferences are handled... i guess firefox is just the dumbed down version to convert ie users...

mozilla4evah.

It's much easier to hype up and market "new and sexy" than it is to promote "old and reliable".

I used Firefox just beause its a standalone browser. I don't need any of the other stuff. I'm a bit surprised that there are any major differences between them.

Is Mozilla stand alone like firefox? FF is good, but I can't stand the goddamn crashes...

Mozilla is a suite. Browser, composer and email.

It comes with composer, email, and an IRC client (I think), but you can choose not to install those during setup.

/me loves mozilla 1.7.3 <3

i prefer having the browser + email client all in one place.
as far as extensions go .. well, most of the extensions work for both FF and moz anyway, so....

Same here.

Mozilla was an easy transition from Netscape (all versions)..

I like the Mozilla browser, but I try not to install the rest of the suite. The mail client never seems to work as expected. Thunderbird works quite well though.
