Java 2 plugin for x-java-vm for Mozilla will not work and I cannot see anything with java2....
I downloaded the plugin multiple times, but it will not install correctly. It says unsuccesful.

Anyone know how to get this damn plugin to work?

My, my,

What a coincidence, this is my first time psting from linux, Mozilla, this old Cmpaq P133, and this keyboard with the intermitent "O" key. 😉

Sorry, I don't knw the answer to your question though. 🙁

Do whatever this says:

1) Download jre.xpi from ftp.netscape.com
2) unzip jre.xpi -d $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/plugins 'jre-image-i386/*'
3) cd $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/plugins
4) ln -s jre-image-i386/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so

😕

No, I don't really use IM-type programs all that much. You should be able to PM me though.

I had problems installing Java with the Windows version of Mozilla, so I knew where to look to find out about the Linux version. But it looks like jibberish to me too. 😀

Something a little simpler than what Vespian said is to download the jre.xpi, and then open it locally through mozilla. It will run the installer script and do everything automatically. Saves a few keystrokes.

i just had this same problem today...seems that "alternative" browsers tend to be pains in the asses when installing plugins. i'm actually running galeon but it uses the mozilla engine and thus mozilla plugins.

thanks vespian and heisenberg 🙂

Dude, don't even mess with the java plugin from netscape! Go to suns website and download the jre from them and install that. If you need help installing that then, well i don't know what to say right now cause i'm strapped for time. After getting that installed right you go into the options for the Konqueror browser and then to the area for java and at the bottom of the screen there is a place to type the path to the java exe.. There you will type the path to the java exe. which i think was (in mandrake8.1) usr/java/jre1.3.1_01/java or something like that. Make sure you put a check in enable java globally and that should take care of it (yes even in mozilla), it did for me anyways.
