Mozilla FireFox likes Mac OS X but not Windows? It's been consistent.

Mozilla Firefox caused all kinds a problem with Windows. One of the biggest problems is when you click on FF icon to execute... it doesn't start. Browser never opens up so I have to say f word (pardon me ) and start the IE browser instead.... This has happened to both Windows 7 Pro and Windows Server 2003 and 2008 on different computers. The versions I have tried is 13~ 15 I think.

But with Mac OS X Lion, WOWWWWWWWWW......... zero issues. I never, ever, never, ever, never, ever, never, ever, ever eva eva eva ran into issue starting the browser. It opens immediately, everytime... been using it for 8 or so months. The only thing I had to do a few times was just cleaning up cookies and cache that's it. Talk about reliability and dependability!

Is this because the OS X is just superior or the FireFox is written better for Mac? Anyone?

I have never had any issues with Firefox on any of the five operating system I run on a normal basis (Window XP, Window Vista, Windows 7, OS X, Linux Mint). I am claiming operator error on this one.

I donno man... FF has been problematic for me on Windows environment....

However, the old Sony laptop that has the ancient version (version 6 or 7?) of FF runs fine and starts up fine, no delays. This browser has been set to turn off automatic updates. Been using it for years. This is Windows btw.

So I think only the old ancient version works the best for Windows which is pretty pathetic...

But for OS X, it doesn't matter what version. I never ran into problems. :colbert:

Can a version released almost exactly a year ago really be called ancient?

Don't remember exact what version it was. I installed FF on that Sony laptop like 3 or 4 years ago, with FF updates disabled. So I don't know what version that would be... Version 3 then? :p Anyways, the old stuff seems to work better and trouble-free.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF on the other computers that have issues with starting up but made no difference. It works for only first couple of times and then stops working... These are clean install of OS too. I tried windows updates but that made no difference.

Neither. FF has always seemed like a second-class citizen on OS X and OS X isn't superior to anything, IMO.

The only issues I've ever had with FF have been related to extensions, never the core browser itself on Windows or Linux.

I only use FF on Windows and I think its awful. Unfortunately Chrome and Cisco servers dont place as nice together has FF does.

I'm curious what you find awful about it. I have tried every browser out there I think and I always come back to FF. I'm not discounting your opinion just curious.

Yeah... it's your computer that has some kind of issue. Firefox has never crashed on me in the 10 months I've had my PC.

The only problem i have had with Firefox is not strictly Firefox related. The problem i was having was that Flash Player would crash a lot. Since Firefox 15 my computer has been rock solid :)
