Mozilla 1.4 RC1 and 2 help please

OK, I've been happily using Mozilla since version 1.0.

I've been using v1.3.1 without problem, but the other day I tried to install 1.4 RC1, then RC2. After an apparently successful install, launching Mozilla gives an error message saying "mozilla.exe experienced an error and has to close"

Reinstalling 1.3.1 works fine, but I can't get 1.4RC2 (or RC1) to run. I've not tried the 1.4 beta releases.

Any thoughts?

I've tried both installing on top on 1.3.1, and installing 1.4 after removing 1.3.1 with Windows Add/Remove Program.
I'm far from comfortable digging through the registry to remove any reference to Mozilla, so I have not tried that yet.

Have you tried installing to a completely separate directory? Also, if you like Mozilla, you might want to consider trying Firebird. It's an offshoot of the Mozilla project and a more lightweight version.

Remove 1.3.1, delete your Mozilla profile and create a new one in 1.4, that's usually the best thing to do.

I can't create a new one in 1.4 - can't get 1.4 to launch. It quits with a "mozilla.exe has experienced an error and will now close" box.

Problem solved.
I did what Darktubbly suggested and installed 1.4 in a completely separate directory (instead of the default, which for some reason doesn't get completely emptied when a previous Mozilla version is un-installed). It will now launch properly.
Thanks!
