Firebird

Lots of extensions, is going to be the replacement for Mozilla anyway, doesn't have all the extras (mail client etc) if you don't need them.

I use Mozilla, but Firebird will be the codebase for future Mozilla major releases (1.5?) anyway.

if you want an email suite, use Mozilla.
if you want something streamlined, use Firebird.

How ready for "primetime" is Firebird 0.6? I used Mozilla back when it was betaware, first at 0.9.4, but it was actually pretty usable all around.

Generally speaking though, I avoid explicit betaware and wait for final releases. Since I haven't used Firebird yet, I'm curious how well it stacks up against Mozilla's web browser app.

I've been using Firebird for the last month or so. No problems whatsoever.

Compared to Mozilla, it has everything minus the slow load time. :)

I have both loaded on my machine. Firebird still has a couple of bugs, in it, but it's much faster in boot time and uses the same rendering kernel (gecko) that Mozilla uses. I also use Thunderbird for my mail, but it's somewhat less stable. If you really need rock-hard stability, then go with Mozilla, but if you can take the occasional glitch, then Firebird is better.

I don't remember the link to the extensions page, but if you will post it I will try to access it in Firebird.

I love Firebird 0.6 except for the annoying autocomplete bug......if you have several browser windows open and you start filling out a form and autocomplete pops up....it's almost guaranteed that Firebird will crash and burn:disgust: Disabling saved form information in the options doesn't kill off autocomplete for whatever reason. That's my only gripe with Firebird. If anyone knows a fix for this please let me know....I was at the Mozilla forums and didn't find an answer.

Firebird is also extremely unstable on the Tablet PCs, it crashes every few pages. Dunno why though

I tried firebird a few months ago and it just wouldn't work on my computer. Mozilla has almost no problems though. I'm gonna try firebird again right now though :)

Damn, I lied. Firebird doesn't work for me. Every dialogue that comes up is maximized (1600x1200). Download manager, "would you like firebird to remember this login/password", etc... All maximized. When I go to tools/options.. the thing is maximized, fvcked up, and then it crashes. Every time.

Firebird is a much better brower. However, Mozilla have email built in & it support WebDAV for calendar sharing.
