Moving XP Pro installation to new motherboard

I'm upgrading the motherboard, RAM, and CPU in my computer, but keeping all the other components including hard disk, as is. The question is, will I be able to keep my current installation of Win XP Pro, or am I forced to do a re-install? Is there anything I can do in advance to ease the transition? I suppose the most important thing is the drivers for the motherboard, should I remove those before moving the disk over?

Exactly. Search the forums, been answered many times before.

Quick response. If the motherboard is similar to the one you have (same chipset familiy) you might just get lucky and Windows will boot and use the drivers it has. However, if the motherboard chipset is different (say, switching from VIA to nForce) it's recommended that you re-install Windows, as many drivers will get corrupted and possibly crashed the system.

As for the CPU and RAM, you'll be fine. Keep in mind that this radical hardware upgrade will trigger re-activation for XP.

OK, thanks for the heads-up, I found it. I did do a search before I posted, but I couldn't find anything. But that was a problem with me using stupid search terms, I tried again and got it. You guys are great, even if I'm an idiot. Thanks!
