Looks like I'll be moving to Vegas(actually Henderson) but will be traveling all over the left coast area-especially LA and San Diego. Some trips to Pac NW, UT, AZ, CO also

Whose got the best cell coverage for this ? Price is not all that important(company's paying) but if you know a really good deal include that iinfo also

Sprint
Verizon
Cingular
T-Mobile
AT&T
Someone else

Thanks

From personal experience I would avoid T-Mobile (VoiceStream). I have T-Mobile here in Portland, we visited Vegas in August to celebrate our 1st anniversary and I could not get a T-Mobile signal. Instead I was on analog with PacBell.

We have been using Sprint for the past two years.

CSR are lousy but that may be Sprint itself.

Had some problems getting the proper plan when I added a second phone, but we do not get many dropped calls.

Make sure that the plan that they try to slide you into does not limit you. They "accidentally" tried to give me a Nevada/California long distance calling plan instead of the nationwide that I had.

Looking at Henderson, you know any + or - for that vs. Green Valley or somewhere else close by.

Thanks

Green Valley is part of Henderson but we just consider it a suburb of Vegas. No real andvantage to where you live. Decent freeway system. Rent/morgage is pretty much the same through out the area. 725$+ gets you a two bedroom 1000 square foot apartment with washer a dryer. 1100$ rents you a three bedroom house. Basic decent housing starts at 130,000 for a single story three bedroom and 90,000 for a two bedroom condo/townhouse. Broadband Cable is availble everywhere through Cox and DSL is availble through Sprint. If you have any more questions about Vegas, feel free to ask.

I did use a cell phone in Vegas. On the strip. For three days. It was Verizon, and it worked well, even on many casino floors. My friends had Voicestream/T-Mobile, and their phones only worked outside, or by windows and doorways.

My voicestream phone used the Cingular network in Vegas. It was not very good, going into any buildings would drop or degrade the signal. My friend with verizon seemed to have better luck then me.

I've been using Sprint the last two years. I have used it w/o much problem from San Fran to San Diego. I live in LA. Their CS has gotten considerably better the last month or so after they got a new CEO. I don't mind calling them at all now; I don't wait on hold long and the person who answers is always friendly.

Well, being out in the middle of nowhere and going into casinos pretty much kills any all-digital signal -- you might want to consider that. Once you get outside the city limits to the north, you have no digital signals for the next 450 miles.

I have Cingular, which sucks, and my brother/sister-in-law have AT&T. They have better reception and since it's digital and analog, they get service everywhere.

I live in Green Valley and work in old Henderson :) I hope you like it here.

Good point. Definitely get a phone that does analog, (AKA, dual-mode or tri-mode).

Verizon and AT&T TDMA have tri-mode phones that will work almost anywhere you might drive to.
