I've got a Samsung PE43H4500AW that I bought from the UK, I live in France. I'm moving to Canada but just want to double check on something...
I have a very robust 1000W 'pro-sumer' transformer that will essentially be used for nothing other than this TV in Canada. The TV is both 50/60Hz but the back only says it's 220V. As far as usage goes, only digital HDMI devices will be fed into it anyway. Shouldn't be a problem, right?

While I'm asking, there will be professional international movers but is there anything I can buy myself to pack it in that would be the most ideally secure box?

Thanks!

Why bother, TVs are pretty affordable here. Just seems like a lot of work shipping then using a power converter then risking something unexpected like it being region locked or something weird and unexpected. I'd sell it and get a new one here.

I just did a quick search you can get a 50" TV with a few hdmi ports for around $300. Samsung's & Sony's cost a little more.

Will you be living in the US or Canada?

Just get a ton a bubble wrap.
While it's true that you can find (used) plasmas VERY cheap now, on the other hand if he has a nice and working one, really no need to get a new one. Except if the shipping/packing etc. wouldn't be worth it over replacing it.

Edit: The professional intl. movers, THEY should have all the packing material required. It's really their responsibility that the stuffs arrives in one piece.

PRO TIP, and yes I am talking from experience: Write down exactly what you pack, IN DETAIL, and the state of it. And if you can, have them sign the list what is packed and shipped in advance...and also sign what you receive your stuff at the destination.

If something gets lost or damaged it's on you to prove that it was the mover's fault and/or that item X was actually packed and taken by the movers. I got extremely pissed when we moved to Spain from Germany with "professional" movers and then our Xbox was missing. I filed a report any everything and didn't really think it would be an issue whatsoever, but they refused to take any responsibility that it was their fault since we couldn't prove that the Xbox was in the boxes they took.
