"Moving to Tampa... "

I'm sorry.

Seriously....the cockroaches the size of Boeing 757 and humidity you could cut with a knife were just too much for me.

Land-O'-Lakes is just about 5 miles north of me.. You'll be joining some fine forum members from this area, JonnyGURU, Yakko, Isla, StanFL, Mc Veigh and others.

I am originally from western Mass, and will never move back into snow country - we're spoiled here in Tampa.

The closest community college is Hillsborough Community College', the Dale Mabry campus will be the closest to you. It's directly across the street from where the WORLD CHAMPION TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS play (couldn't resist😉)

Let me know if I can help further..

You can... I have no friends down there. Wanna be mine 🙂

Dont listen to those Kill-joys. Tampa is an awesome city to live in and around! You have places like YBor City, and your literally only an hour or two away from Orlando. As for community colleges, I know of a few. Hillsborough and St. Petersburg. Also Tampa Tech has a campus in..yup you guessed it Tampa, as well as pinellas county. Good Luck and remember...

Go Bucs & Go Bolts!

I'm In Orlando Not too far from ya, So far FL has been great!! I moved her from TN

My college buddy owns a bar down there...called 'Friends' or 'Friendlies' or something like that (no its not an ice cream joint!) His name is Kenny and he's the least Indian looking (or sounding) Indian person you'll ever meet. Check it out and say hi from Jigga for me!

In Kissimmee here, a bit south of Orlando.

FL is a really good place to live, tons of things to do 🙂, Beachs and theme parks are awesome. Though it does get very hot sometimes.

Listen to this guy, he is absolutely right.

While Tampa has better weather than the East cost of Florida (not quite as hot and humid, but still unbearable). I grew up in FL, and am VERY glad to be gone from that hellhole.

Also, USF has got to be the most spread out college campus on Earth. Good luck either changing parking spaces or running 2 miles between classes during thunderstorms more severe than most people can even imagine.

BTW, many (most?) of the "lakes" in Land O' Lakes are not naturally occuring. Disney shipped in dirt from all the surrounding areas to raise their elevation about 25 feet so they get a bit of a breeze and generally better weather within the park then outside it. (The heat-absorbing material developed by NASA that the walkways at Disney are covered with help also). The dirt removal on land that was already pretty much AT sea level triggered the formation of lots of oversized sinkholes known as lakes. Beware lakefront property on lakes that are still expanding!

If you like cycling, check out Flatwoods Park and any of the parks down Morris Bridge Road. Lots of trails plus an 11 mile paved loop. There are a lot of great parks around here, if you like hiking/cycling/etc.

I'm a native and while I'll admit Tampa isn't as nice as it used to be, I blame the reckless overdeveloping/exploding population.

This was a beautiful place once... still is, but you have to know where to find the 'true' Tampa and not the endless miles of suburban sprawl.

I"m in orlando, and actually going to Tampa tomorrow night for the Yankees/Devil Rays game, should be a blast.

i like Tampa from what i've seen of it, and i love orlando, which is only 1 hour from Tampa,so you have some great options for going out, having fun, etc....
