moving to rc5

I hit my 1000 mark in seti last night and that basically was my goal for now, seeing as that project will never end, and that we seem to be doing fine in the DSL race. If we get into a crunch on the race I can always go back. I switched my 4 pcs that were running seti over to rc5 last night and also joined the team. On both of my pIII pcs and my duron pc, I noticed during initial start up, the client was able to identify the cpus....but on my xp1800 it does not...is this causing any sort of performance hit by it not being recognized?

Welcome to RC5, we're VERY happy to have you on the team! 🙂

"but on my xp1800 it does not"

It doesn't on mine either - but it doesn't seem to matter, mine appears to be doing as many blocks as it should.

You can find out if yours is by visiting the Team Anandtech speed page - if you enter in 1500 in the box next to "Athlon TBird/Duron" - the # of workunits per day that is pretty close to what you should get will be in the boxes at the bottom.

Welcome to the RC5 team! 🙂

I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe some of the folks with newer rigs can answer this for you! 🙂

The dnet client should do a core test and pick the fastest core. If not, then you can manually do a core test.

Welcome.

The 2 Xp 1600's I managed to get friends to install the client on didn't id the processor but the client did pick the fastest core for them. Now if I can just convince them to quit wasting CPU cycles playing games all would be well. 🙂

nemur: Sorry to see ya leave the TA SETI TeAm but glad you helped the SETI project and good to see you're still here in another TA distributed computing project.

Congrats on getting 1000 SETI units! 😀

Take care TeAmmate and we'll leave the door open in SETI for you! 🙂

Enjoy the RC5 TeAm...they are a great group of guys and gals too! 😀
