I found out recently that I'm being offered a job in the baltimore/wash d.c. area, and my wife and I have started to look for a place to rent (probably a 2-bedroom or a townhouse).
For anyone who does/did live in that area of the country, how did you find your apartment? Any locator services that you had success with, or think should be avoided? Any advice on which towns/cities/suburbs are nice places to live, or places to be avoided? We're looking to move south of Baltimore, north of Washington, and west of Annapolis - preferably outside the beltways - but other than that we're pretty flexible.
We'd really appreciate any advice - we have a 6 week old baby and are in Iowa currently so we won't have much of an opportunity to look around before we get a place to live.
