Moving to Florence SC in 2 weeks.. any know anything about the place?

So I found out this morning that I will be moving to Florence, South Carolina for my job.. anyone know anything bout the place? Other then its 1 hour from the beach, 3 from Altanta and that the people are really nice.. that is all i know...

ne ideas?
 
Why florence? What do you do? I live in greenville, which is in the western part of SC, but my family came from that area of the state... Not much out there that I know of...
 
i have family in dillon county. i don't know of anything really fun to do there, except Myrtle Beach and all its attractions.
 
there are some speed traps in some of the little towns on the way to the beach, Aynor or conway, along Hwy 501
 
I live about 30 min from there and go there reguarly since it is the biggest city in this area. Any thing in specific you want to know.They do have a Minor league hockey team if you are interested in sports but it is a rural city so there is not a lot going on.
 
any big night life? any festivals or things for a younger person (mid 20's) to do? Looking to keep a decent social life.. for the 6 months I will be down there.

 
I have lived in SC most of my life. I would NEVER EVER EVER move to Florence. Literally nothing to do there.

There is no night life. Pretty much nothing there.....

Um...that sucks. One of the least favorable "cities" in SC to live in. Really, the only places to live in SC is Greenville, Charleston, or Hilton Head.

I grew up in Spartanburg, SC which is near Greenville. I went to college in Clemson. I currently live in Charleston, SC
 
i live 50 minutes from florence (horry county, i'm about 15 minutes from MB) during the summer when i'm not in clemson. we'll go drinking sometime.
