I have an Athlon XP now with 350W power supply. Please advise what kind of power supply I need for the following upgrade.
CPU: X2 3800 (no overclocking planned)
MB: Biostar 6100 socket 939 with builtin graphics
HD: 100GB Parallel
Memory: PC3200 DDR
DVD-RW
Video: Will use intergrated graphics.
Computer use: General home use. No gaming.

Thanks.

Old article, but you can probably get a lot out of it since you're not going to be on the high end of computing:

I should also clarify - the wattage you have on your PSU, imo, is sufficient. I'm not sure what brand it is, or if it has dual-rails, etc. If it was a cheap PSU that you're not sure about, it would be worth the upgrade to a newer PSU.

A good quality 350w will handle that setup easily. If you have an el cheapo and have to buy a new one, a 400w will leave you a little breathing room for future upgrades.

What I have is Antec SL350, 5V 35A, 12v 16A, 3.3v 28A, combined 330W. No, it is not dual 12V. It has a 4 pin prong. If this looks okay, I will keep this. If it doesn't work, I will buy Fortron 400W. Thanks.
