I want to do something interesting with my bedroom. Are there any good websites out there to get ideas on how to do my bedroom? Right now it's all skate posters and basically looks like a college student's room... but I'm 21 and I think it's time to start growing up.

whats your style? are you edgy or classic? Easy going or hip and contemporary? There are so many amazing things you could do with a room for pretty cheap too! how big is the room? does it have a lot of windows? what colors do you like?......

I dunno. I want something kindof contemporary.. fresh. My apartment's floor plan is as follows

Floor Plan

I have the bedroom on the very right diagrammed above the kitchen.

I'm thinking of a Grey/ Steel / Green motif. I dunno where to start though. Cheap is good

It's a bedroom. you sleep in it. I spend probably about 15 minutes total a day in my bedroom where i can see anything.

hang a painting...you're done.

Here's something I've always wanted to do but never had the chance....

Get a small round table that's tall. Add 4 tall chairs around it. Have a napkin holder and a salt/pepper shaker in the middle. Get a few menus from your local Chili's or TGIF. Leave them on the table. You could have the ketchup bottle in the middle too. And a small container of real and artificial sweetener.

Most apartments have the living room and dinning room sort of combined into one large room. Two or three of these bar style tables would work out nice next to a large TV and stereo. Just like in most sports bars. Decorating the rest of the common area would be simple. Just look around Chili's and similiar places. Hang your surfboard off the ceiling. Mount your bike rack on the wall. Put a few street signs up. It all fits in...

EDIT: Ok, that wasn't really meant for your bedroom. But you could still do it...

I should take a pic of my room. It's like you enter it and BLAM! You're assaulted by a billion different colors. I want to make my room clean and kinda sparse but stylish. If you want my skate posters you can have them, notfred. I'll brave the causeway traffic and bring them to Sac. Then you can do my timing belt!

HAHA!!! Typical boy answer! My thought is this: This is YOUR space. Especially fi you are in a apartment. Make it comfortable and some place you will want to go....not just to sleep....plus, i you have a girl over...she will be totally impressed if you room kicks @ss.

That is a good start to go with colors you like. The best way to change the feeling of a room is with paint. It's also one of the cheapest. go to some home stores in your area like home depot. They usually have a little display by the paint that i like to call the "oops" section. This is the paint some uptight lady did not want cuz it didn't match her sofa. they really can't do anything with it but put it on sale! I was at home depot yesterday and bought a gallon of paint for $5! You cannot go wrong with that. But, If you have a color you like, they can match it perfectly. Start w/ the apint, then mosey on down to the salvation army or local flea market and search for cool lamps and neat furniture. If you wanna go contemporary...look for lots of metal and stainless steel things. Believe me, you can find tons.

After that, you may need to touch some of your stuff up but, no bigie, it was cheap. Then, look for cool little things to hang on you walls. If you still love skating, find an old shirt you love but has seen better days...take a wallet chain and make a square. hang the shirt inside. Also, make color copies of cool paintings you like and just do a cheapie matting job. Get a few of these in a group (like 3 in a row or 6 in two rows.)

Just have fun....make it you...using cool colors like greens and blues and greys will make the room feel "man-lier"

Hope i was some help@

Personally, I've always found the naked, 6-foot, blonde, Amazon, deaf-mute whose father owns a liquor store, on the bed motiff very attractive.

Assuming one of those isn't available when you go shopping, :p start with some simple pictures with black, gold or silver metal frames. They blend in with anything. I was never one to decorate the bedroom. A picture here or there and that's fine for me.

I have pictures in my living room and it's kinda contemporary, but nothing that'll be in BH&G anytime soon.

I always use the Apathy/Lazy motif. To pull it off, resist your urges to actually put something on the wall. Then, throw your clothes in a pile each night when you sleep. Or, get them close to a pile. Pretty easy to pull off and it's cheap.

Wow, thanks for the help. Yeah I think the key to having an "adult" room is having stuff that matches. Um. Hello Ikea. I first need to figure out where to put my bed.. my room is basically a huge cube.

I don't think my girlfriend would let me put up a bunch of skate posters. I hate that causeway. you drive 1 mile on that thing and it looks you spent all day hunting dragonflies in some Arican swamp. Damn bugs.

I live in a studio apartment, so my living room is my bedroom depending on whether the futon is unfolded or not. I have a fish motif, the color is mostly dark green. I have 3 aquariums (2 are actually "on-loan" from my gf). I have a terra-cotta mold of some fish by the door that has a greenish tint. I have a green sarong with fish on it above my bed. I have a painting of a clownfish/anemone above my "main" fish tank. I have a paper lantern thing that I found at East Meets West that has fish on it. I have a photo-series of some lifeguards paddling out in rough surf to make a rescue. I have a some windchimes that look like fish.

I love fish.

I had fun with my bedroom in the apartment. All white. White bed frame. White sheets. White comforter. Two white night stands. White lamp. White alarm clock/radio. White phone. Nothing on the white walls. It turned out pretty cool. Like being in a cloud. It was simple, yet different.

motif? where'd you get that word, the christopher lowell show?

go to ikea. They have good stuff for the "no longer a kid, not yet old" phase of life.
