Moving stuff from Partition to partition

How can I do this and not have it get all messed up?

Is there a way, short of uninstalling and re-installing.

If one partition is C: and the other D: then just drag the file icons from C: to D: to move them.

This probably wasn't what you were talking about, I know, but it's not a very clear question. Maybe you want to move a program installation, or an OS?

Installed programs.

When I formatted I wanted windows and drivers and junk on C. I accidentally installed STEAM on C, where it put like 10gig of games.
I want them on D, but dragging and dropping will cause issues---wont it?

I don't know if it will cause issues - used to be, a lot of programs stored absolute paths within the registry.

According to this site, all you actually need to do is move the directory, correct any shortcuts, and delete a single file.

I would think that would cause issues. I would recommend uninstalling Steam, clearing all files left behind along with a registry wipe, then installing where you want.

Use Steam's own backup process then uninstall Steam. Install Steam on D then restore the backed up files.
