Moving SetiQueue to new PC - questions

It looks like I'm getting a replacement workstation here - going from P3/866 to P4/1.6 🙂

My only concern is installing SetiQueue on the new machine. I've already taken screen shots of the configuration, so I'm not worried about that. However, won't I need to change the IP address of this machine to something different so I'll be able to use that IP on the new computer? (assuming that someone else will be getting my PC). Also, the new PC will have XP on it (running 2k on this one). SetiQueue works fine with XP, doesn't it?

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Indy, you don't have to mess around with reinstalling SetiQueue on the new machine, and trying to d/l WUs.

Just copy the entire directory from the old machine to the new machine, and i'd change the IP address of the new one to what the old one was, and give it the same name, so that all your clients will connect to what they think is the same machine.

Just remember to change the IP/name of the old machine to something different 🙂

Make sure to shutdown the Queue before copying it to the new PC also! 🙂

I've done this twice with no problems 🙂

oh yeah, and what Engineer said as well 🙂

I've done this about 6 times copying the Queue to and from my server and my computer when i format and reinstall either of them!

And then remember to run the setiqueue.exe -i so it runs as a service.
And then goto services and make setiqueue start automaticaly, and start it 😀

Then you are set to go..

Been there, done that 😛

Other than the icon not being in the system tray, what are the advantages of running SetiQ as a service (if any)?

Since it runs on windoze and windoze = continually rebooting 😛, then running it as a service means that it'll start automatically without the need for someone to login when run on NT/2K/XP Pro. 🙂
