Moving seats in a Trans Am?/

I have a 2001 Trans Am and I would like to move both the driver and passenger seats back about 3 inches further. Anyone know who I should talk to to get it done or any suggestions. I thought about maybe taking it to a body shop but they would probably not deal with those types of things. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look under the seats to see if they are back as far as they can go - at the last notch (sometimes they will get stuck).

To move them back further, the seat mounting to the floor needs to be unbolted, new holes drilled and then remounted. Then the seatbelts will have to be adjusted also.

A mechanic shop should be able to do this (as well as the dealer). If you are too tall, maybe the first place to start is with the dealer (for free info only).

You must be pretty tall. My seats are on the farthest back notch but to do so I had to build up the clutch pedal about 1 1/2 inches. I'm 5"10"

Want to get that straight arm driving position?? I contacted GM abut putting in moveable pedals in future models but of course got no reply.

Sat in a new "Vette and even I couldnt get comfortable. Clutch all the way in, right leg still quite bent.

I am 6'5" 350 lbs. I barely squeeze into it so any extra room I can get is a plus. I really don't care about the back seat so I thought this was a good idea. My wife who is about 5'10" has to have the seat all the way back to fit into bit she is a little more comfortable than I am. Do you guys think I will have any issues with the fact the driver side is powered?

here is thaught for you
If you can get a hold of a stop sign post you could cut it into 8" lenghts +/-
bolt that to the original holes the seat was mounted to then bolt your seat
to the sign post it will raise the seat about a 1/2" +/- no drilling.

Either you select different model of transportation that has larger space to accommodate taller people or ditch the rear seat, move the front seats back to what ever distance you two will need and you shouldn't have any problem with the fact that seats being powered or not. (all mechanical moving parts of power seats are above the seat mount that gets bolted to the floor board) You might want to rebuild the left over rear section (if any) and extend the trunk area. (to accommodate bigger speakers/amps maybe or increase storage space)

Personally, I find rear seats in Trans Am, Corvettes, Porsche and whole slew of others a big waste of $$ + space. I don't think anyone in the companies building them ever actually tried to ride in the rear seats because if they did it's very unflattering of any automobile that accompanies such vehicles with relation to their price tags. Anyone over 4" tall couldn't possibly fit back there comfortably. (I could be off by few inches or so) If buying an auto was judged by the rear seat ride comfort they be out of business.

I also Have a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, I have no trouble in there. Now if I could only move the enfine out of the Trans Am and put into the Itrepid body that would be sweet
