Moving my computer to another town.

Well I am going off to college soon and its about a 2 hour trip at 90+ Mph. I will be transporting my computers along with TV ect. So do you have any ideas on how to keep my computer save? I have an AX-7 on my athlon. And the case is a Antec 1240sx.

I don't really want to strip it down but I am thinking about taking the HD out and putting it in something that will dampen the vibrations.

Also, I don't want to take my HSF off because I would loose some effecincy putting it back on.

So basically how would you trasport your system?

everything should be alright unless you crash... 🙂

my tip, lay the computer down on it's side, more specifically the site that the motherboard is on, that way your heatsink isn't dangling and has the chance of coming unclipped!

The hard drive will be fine...modern drives are sturdy enough to play hockey with. 🙂 I have always laid mine on its side like was suggested. You might want to wedge it in between some things so it doesn't slide all over though.

I would put it on the seat and not n a hard surface just something to absorb the impact form the roads, also maybe just pull the HD to be on the safe side and rap this up in some secure package.

I?ve never taken apart a PC just to move it. Lay it on its side in the backseat like most people are suggesting. One thing I would do is pop open the case before starting it back up to make sure everything is still attached.

I am going to pull the HD simply becuase my case has a removable hd bay. Just a pull of a lever and it slides out. I am a bit afraid that it might wiggle its way out on the trip up. (The are doing road construction and parts of the road are not smooth at all)
