Moving MP3 files and maintaining playlists in iTunes?

So I have a bunch of playlists in iTunes and I manually organize my music. So if I wanted to change the physical location of the mp3 files on my hard drive (for example, say a song is in C:/Music/file.mp3 and I move it to C:/Music/Rap/file.mp3) the playlist won't be able to find it anymore. Is there an easy way to avoid or fix this problem?

I think you would need to edit the .xml file.

Each song has it's own setting so it will be tedious depending on how your music is setup.

There is a .itl file but I don't know what that does.. They are located in the itunes folder in my documnets.

if it's a text based file (most playlists are) then I would just use a search/replace mechanism in a decent editor (not notepad or MS Word)
