I am looking to upgrade to the Dell 1905FP from my 19" CRT.
Will there be a vast improvement in quality, or is it just a big sidestep.
I would like to get the 2005FPW, but it's $100 (about 35%) more than the 1905FP.
I also don't want to just throw money away. I'm an occasional gamer, but I do mostly music on my pc where a lot of screenspace is a big luxury.

I've already placed the 1905 on order, but it doesn't ship until next week, so I could change the order if needed. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

It's hard to predict whether you'll like an LCD better than your CRT; people swear by either. I can say that I was worried that I was throwing money away moving from a 19" CRT to a 17" LCD, but I've never regretted it. In fact, it's probably one of the best purchases I've made recently.

It's worth noting a few things, though. You talk about using the increased screen space, but a 19" LCD can only go up to 1280x1024 resolution. You could probably do this (well, 1280x960) on your current CRT (of course that's for you to judge.)

Also, this monitor only has a 20ms response time. If you're only a casual gamer, this may be ok, but the ghosting may still get on your nerves.

If you do want an LCD, I'd seriously consider holding out for the 2005FPW, as the new batch of these seem to be pretty well liked. Your call in the end though.
