so i realized today that athlon 64's are ridiculously cheap so it is probably time to upgrade some time in the near future... i have a 2600+ barton with 2x 512mb PC2700 DDR and 1x 256 PC2700 DDR (1.2 total) and nforce2 chipset... its obviously a good machine still and my question is is there a good chipset that can run both barton and athlon64 that i should maybe look into getting soon?

thanks! :)

Well you could use the ram, but I don't understand the question about a chipset running both a barton and an A64. A barton is a 462 pin socket, and the A64's are either 754 pins or 939. So no you couldn't get a board that did both, I guess, if I read it correctly anyways.

the sockets are different on AthloXP and A64 so no compability whatsoever.
