Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of moving from my Antec SX1040B to a smaller case with better noise suppression and larger fans.

Noise suppression is of big concern for me while cooling is, although important, not as much. I am a music producer and sound engineer which requires something much quieter at the home studio. My current 80mm fans running at 2200rpm+ are too loud.

I do not overclock, will not go SLI nor add a large number of internal drives in the future. For reference my machine is in my signature.

My budget is anywhere from $100 to $200 and I am a fan of Antec.

The tower will be on an Ikea Jerker and away from dust. Filters, although a benefit, really aren't necessary.

There is also one last concern; the case can't stand out. I do not want a flashy case with lights or trim or whatnot. Just a simple black rectangular prism with great noise suppression using a combination of padding and large low CFM fans.

What do you think, gents?

TL;DR - I need a new case from $100-$200 which is quiet. lulz.

I know you mentioned Antec, but have you looked at Lian li ?

This is a great case for what you need, but it is a little over budget ($220-$250)
but you cant beat the quality...

http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=314&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=62

Alternative option is this- http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=289&cl_index=1&sc_index=26&ss_index=67

it's smaller and cheaper ($90 on newegg)

Now if you want to stay with the Antec family, the sonata series is worth taking a look at, and you can find them all on newegg

The fractal design define r3 might be worth a look. I would give you a link but I don't know how to on my phone.

Edit - can't find it for sale in the US nvm

If you want quiet, and you like Antec already, I think you're basically designing the Sonata series in your head.

Thanks for the input, The 300/900/1200 series looks really flashy. I recently built a system in a 300 for a friend and loved the features but it just seemed a little flashy.

Though it was nice :)

Same with the HAF, looks strange to me. Windows just don't do it for me haha.

The Lian Li's I always liked but it's difficult to find here in Canada... Locally anyway. I'd have to travel to Tiger Direct or ship it which I don't like doing.

I think the P183 is going to do it for me, it looks great and reviews say it's pretty quiet with the side padding. Plus easy dust cleaning and no flashy fans :)

I think that's what I'm going for. Will post a build log when I change cases to the P183 :)

Thanks guys!

Hey, I was wondering if you happened to pick up a new case yet?

I just happen to have an old SX1040B sitting here that I am planning on modding to stick one of my old core2 systems into so I've been browsing old threads regarding this case. (Do you happen to have any pics with that X58 jammed into it?)

If you are still looking for a new I'd look into the Fractal Designs from NCIX.com I currently have my main system in an Antec 900 and while it's decent looking and coolrunnings mon I'm getting tired of it and have been browsing new cases.

They don't seem to have many Fractal cases in stock currently but I really like this one with the white finish.

This Corsair 650D has also caught my eye.
