Alright, right now I have 2 sticks of 512MB PQI Turbo TCCD RAM for a total of 1GB. I'm looking to upgrade to 2GB because the stuttering in BF2 just pisses me off. What is the best value RAM out there? I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe and Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester (90nm). Two slots left, and I plan on putting the new RAM in the last two slots for a total of 2GB. I will also have to change my memory settings to DDR333 and 2T which should be less than 5% performance decrease, right? Since I'm adding another gig it should cancel that decrease out by far anyway. BTW, I plan on doing no overclocking whatsoever but I don't want awful timings. I'm aiming for less than $150 at newegg.

Cool looks like I'll get the Corsair Value DDR400 PC3200 CAS 2.5 at ~$90 on Newegg. Any confirmation on the DDR333/2T being a minimal performance decrease, and I will definitely have to set both of those respectively in order to run 4 sticks of RAM? Is there a 100% chance that the DDR333/2T will make it POST or that's no guarantee? I just want to make sure should I RMA it the only reason would be it was incompatible, just not something silly I could have known before I ordered it. Lastly does anyone happen to know why I must lower my memory settings to use 4 sticks? It's a glitch in AMD's memory controller or something?

I wouldn't go with Corsair VS, especially since you have those TCCds. I would spend the extra money for something like OCZ performance. Maybe it can get 2-2-2-5 at DDR 333.....

Well I won't be overclocking so there will be virtually no difference, right? I do want to save some money to buy a 7800 or 7600GT(?). Last I checked the performance memories were twice as much (or more), and I think I'd get more performance from buying a faster video card. Do you concur?

Isn't corsair VS 97 dollars and OCZ performance 120 dollars? Both shipped I think.

If you do take this route, these Crucial 1GB modules were recommended to me by Zebo, who pointed out this thread at HardOCP. Running a pair of those on my A8N-E down at work now. Hmmm, and I got two slots still open... hmmm :)

Those crucial sticks aren't poor man's ballistix anymore :(. Hardforums confirmed that..

Ya, if I were you, I would sell the TCCd, which can get a pretty penny, and buy 2x 1gb.

Heh, my dad really bought the memory I have in now, and (for whatever reason) doesn't like selling stuff on eBay or giving it to anyone. He's the 'paranoid' type. Which means I'll just get the OCZ performance RAM. Cheaper anyway, so I have more left over to get a good video card. I see a smooth BF2 experience in my future.
