Love your taste, I have Full Metal and Fight Club....

Someone once told me if I were to watch Office Space my IQ would drop... ;)

I'll have to look into that one

Disagree with everything above except princess mononoke.

Seven Samurai is one of the best movies ever made. Good story, great dialogue, good action scenes, great acting by mifune and shimura, innovative cinematography (popularized deep focus I believe), introduced the "assemble a team" motif to film... and directed by a genius.

Samurai trilogy was good, very good in fact, but not in the same league as Seven Samurai.

Needless to say, of the list the OP provided, my recommendation is seven samurai. And definitely NOT Pitch black or chronicles of riddick.

out of curiousity have you even seen spirited away? It's better than mononoke. the riddick series is very entertaining btw most people really enjoy them. to add a few more

pulp fiction
grave of the fireflies
the LOTR series(an absolute must have)
equalibrium
the breakfast club(a classic)

Yes, I saw spirited away. It was a little too random for me. I liked it, but prefer the more tightly woven plot of princess M. The second round of recommendations get the official seal of approval from torpid, though equilibrium is more of a campy sinful pleasure type movie.
