Watching "Changing Lanes" right now.(remembered wanting to see it in theatres so catching it on cable today) The first 30 minutes so far is simply SOOOOO friggin' insulting to the viewer's intelligence that I can hardly stand it.

The older I get, the more I notice this. I'm sure the climax of the plot will have some kind of payoff that the writer/producer/director went to the bank with on this....BUT....

Ben Affleck's character (lawyer) and Samuel Jackson's character (distraught, alcoholic father in legal battle w/ wife) play a couple of the most insulting roles I've ever seen. How do two halfway intelligent people get to the heart of the thickening plot in such a friggin' unintelligent way???

I sometimes feel that my 9yr old daughter could put together better intros than what I've been seeing in movies lately.

P.S. 45minutes in now and the plot is only getting worse. They've both gone from making bad decisions to simply stupid decisions now. REALLY stupid, unitelligent decisions.

Just wow........

Transporter.

I really doubt a guy falling with a parachute can catch up with a fast moving transport truck. LOL

Speed 2 was another. While the movie was not bad if you ignore those aspects, there was so much stuff in there they could have done or tried to stop the boat. Plot holes, basically.

Core, but it's still awesome. :D

Cause all you need to know to restart the planet's core is Torque = R x F.

Haha I remember that movie. It actually was pretty good despite the fact that it's not really realistic. I don't think there is a huge hollow space inside the earth near the center lol.

Crash

I immediately got the, "Can't we all just get along!" vibe when I began to watch it. Instantly returned to Netflix.

Many things before 2000, and almost everything since 2000.
I got to the point where I only watch stupid movies, because I have absolutely no expectations then.

As for the dude who hated Crash, I think he insulted its intelligence.
That movie is absolutely NOT "cant we all get along", especially not during the first 3/4's. Its more like "Californians are full of shit and Los Angeles is not even close to the paradise people believed it to be".
Theres other stuff too. But thats a big part of it.

i never saw this movie. please give examples.

Well, I'd say to watch it, but that would be a mean thing to ask you to do and I wouldn't want to reward those involved in this movie.

Good example (semi-cliffs):

The conflict starts when Affleck & Jackson get into an accident on NY's FDR. They both go to change lanes and hit eachother. Affleck's Mercedes is mildly bruised while Jackson's Corolla runs head-on into those yellow water-filled trash cans in a divider.

Jackson tries to get Affleck's insurance card and they both babble so ridiculously in dialogue that is quite literally embarrassing to watch unfold. Of 3 folders Affleck needs to seal his case ($100+ million POA case) he drops the most important one. Affleck is in such a hurry, he flees the scene, giving jackson a blank check to fix his car. Jackson finds the folder and thinks nothing of it. Rain begins to fall (what timing, eh?) and Jackson starts to thumb for a ride on FD-friggin' R.

It gets worse from there. (Just re-read my text and really, you need to see it)

1 hour in.......it's getting even worse!!!

Good thing most movies are just meant to watch and not thought about.
Movies as a whole are just mindless entertainment.

You just have to accept nearly anything based on the physical sciences is going to wrong, from falling, to how things acts, to well making sound in space not to most things in movies maneuver there, and how chemicals react, etc. That is just how it is and you just have to accept it.

Left Behind. Only watched a bit of it, but damn spanky isn't it the biggest POS ever to be called a 'movie".

It's meant to be a fiction based on what will happen in the future, so it's not suppose to be all crazy insane like 2012 or something like that. I found it was an ok movie.

I know what it's meant to be, the Special Effects or lack thereof has nothing to do with its' Epic crappiness.
