I just happened to watch these two movies the past couple days and they were awesome.. just wondering if there are any similar ones out there people could recommend. They are documentary type films that have to do with personal achievement

A lot of segments on Real Sports on HBO have stories like this. A lot are far more depressing though.

Thanks for the ideas.. I think that Ewan McGregor flick with him going around the world by bike might be similar so I'm going to check that out

Touching the Void is a docu-drama about a couple of guys who were mountain climbing, it's one of the most amazing survival stories I've ever seen.

There are also some good movies about Everest - the original IMAX version is damn good, and "Everest: Beyond the Limit" is a good miniseries.

Saw that.. good recommendation though I would put it in this category

I love Herzog. The more realistic depiction in grizzly Man is so much better than the recent fluff Animal Planet and Discovery have been feeding us regarding that wack-job.

Though not sports related and not a documentary, (though based on real story), you'd probably like Into the Wild if you haven't seen it.

There are some pretty good docs about the Iditarod out there, though a particular name escapes me.

I also saw The Man who Skied down Everest the other day. HD Theater? it was great.

I was going to recommend Touching the Void - it's brilliant. Deep Water is another fascinating documentary produced by the same people.

The Ewan Mcgregor motorcycle series is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Round I haven't seen it but I remember flipping through the book and it looked interesting
