i just watched the movie the hunted. i had seen the tv teasers for it, but never really heard much else after it came out. as far as action type movies go, i thought it was really pretty good. it really kept my attention. i might even watch it again some time...

anyone else seen it? what did you think?

I thought that it was pretty slow throughout. They had it pumped up in the previews as a big action movie but it was nothing like what I was expecting. It was probably a better movie than I'm giving it credit for but I was personally let down.

personally I thought if you've already seen the fugitive and/or US marshals, you've already seen this movie.

very true, just this one had more gore, that last fight scene was pretty sweet. I also saw it under the Influence so it might have been better then

Was this the movie with Christopher Lambert and the ninjas? There are a couple of movies with the same title.
If it was, great movie. I liked the fight scene on the train.

Eh. Mediocre.

Worth a rental. Glad I didn't pay $20 for me and the wife to see it in the theaters.

I rented it about a month ago. Really pointless, boring movie. The fight scenes were cool and very bloody, but the plot and the acting had about as much depth as a kiddie wading pool. I like Benicio Del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones, but they dropped the ball when they decided to do this movie.

Good fight scenes but they could have had a TON more character development. They hinted to a close past between Tommy and Benecio but they never really showed much about it or made me believe that they used to be good friends. It could have been so good but they really just put out a pointless action movie instead. But it is worth the rental I'll agree with that.

William Friedkin is one of the best American directors active today. His films always contain layers of content and meaning that the viewer may or may not miss depending upon the viewer's ability to 'read' the film and their willingness to put that effort forth. The Hunted asks alot of questions that the active viewer will try to answer while watching the film... What responsibility do we bear for our children? Can Tommy Lee save what he created? Or must he destroy the monster he made? Has Tommy ended up creating the weapon of his own demise? Is Del Toro society's creation? Or Tommy's? As society has it's sins revisited upon itself, is Tommy putting Del Toro out of his pain or merely washing his own sins away? During the film Friedkin gives lots of cues upon which to draw our conclusions.

While Friedkin's films may contain action, the meat of the films is almost always to be found on a psychological level. If you look at the Hunted as just an action film, then yes, it's no 'xXx'.
