It's an old movie but with a pretty interesting plot. In short it's about a fleet of Naval ships that sailed through a time portal which takes them back in time shortly before Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. The question is, do they intercept the Japanese fleet and prevent the attack or let history takes its course.

Of course this one US fleet can easily destroy the entire Japanese fleet. Unfortunately they weren't able to attack in time before getting sent back in time. It would have been awesome to see the attack. There was a scene where 2 F-14 Tomcats did engaged 2 Japanese Zeros. The look on the Japanese pilots with the tomcats on their sixes was priceless.😀

Most of the crew on that ship were born post WWII. Why in the fsck would they want to change history so signifigantly prior to their own birth and chance making themselves dissappear???

It would have been cool to see the battle. Or even better - in the Lord of the Rings - when the Orcs were attaching Helms Deep - to have a couple dozen Mariens with 50cal gatling guns there too

Yeah, I remember that movie. The part where they say that one Nimitz class carrier has more firepower than the entire Japanese airforce/navy was pretty sweet. 😛

Seeing the F-14s drop some Paveways from 30,000ft onto the Japanese carriers would have been interesting.

Actually, the look on the Japanese pilot's face when the resident WW2 buff crewmember tells him exactly what's going to happen at Pearl Harbor in a few hours time is even more interesting.

Agreed.

I liked this movie....it was an interesting dilemma for the captian of the carrier.

Why? It's obvious he got stinking rich off his knowledge of history.

GOD i hated that movie! i mean, i understand them not wanting to change history, but basically NOTHING HAPPENS IN THE MOVIE. they go back in time, do nothing, go forward in time.

Why?

He got the girl and had the historical knowledge to make himself fantastically rich.

that was funny they kirk douglas was trying to radio in to Pearl saying he was the captain of the Nimitz...(since Nimitz was still an active officer at the time)...

Would you risk your life to save the lives of thousands of others? Could you just sit there and let an attack, like the one on Pearl Harbor, take place when you have it within your power to stop it?

The movie isn't about "hey let's change history". It's about people forced to make tough decisions in a situation that no one planned for or ever anticipated.

Did it feature the SWEET 80s song with the same name by Europe?

thank god it did not...

the movie came out before the song did...

Don't speak ill of the song :|

no offense to ya, but I was into the hair metal band scene back then and that song made me cringe...🙂

If you liked that movie you might want to read "Weapons of Choice" It's Book one in the Axis of Time Trilogy by John Birmingham. It gets more into what would happen if something like this did happen. I liked it. 🙂
