Movie that didn't get the audience it deserved

The Machinist was never intended for major audiences as it mostly an actor vehicle designed for indie theaters...I really don't think people would have gone to see it if it had a wider release.

Mine is "The Machinist"

Christian Bale's weight loss for the character in the movie

Yeah, no kidding... i saw that movie. I couldn't finish it... i got to the part where he was in the girl's apt, and saw her boots... i knew something bad was going to happen, and popped the DVD out.

But man, he took it to the extreme for that role. I read that he was so weak for so many of the parts, that he had to sit down between takes. That's what i call dedication.

Actor vehicle? What does that mean?

Also, did you see it? Like it?

 I liked it much better than the Royal Tenenbaums, for the script, actors and the Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas) sea creatures.

I love all Anderson's films but this one just sets it in stone. I remember seeing this film xmas day two years ago and being one of the only people that was laughing at all. I then got it this year for xmas and watched it my family; they loved it as well. I thought that was proper redemption if exactly a year too late 😉

An actor vehicle is typically a small indie film focused on one (maybe two) actors that is designed and filmed purely to showcase his/her talent. Another recent "actor vehicle" was Being Julia which starred Annette Bening and got her a best actress nom.

As long as it was better than "Bottle Rocket" but nothing will ever compare to "Rushmore"

Rushmore is my favorite of his, I still watch it and laugh until it hurts.

Because the movie was so freaking depressing. Seriously, everything was so drab and depressing. The scenes were all grey and slow. He was all skinny and pale. And his delusions were affecting not only himself, but the people around him... it was just sooo sad.

Loved it and i still hear that song in my head from time to time.

I don't recall big lebowski being a bit hit when it came out to theaters. In fact, I didn't even see it in a theater. It's one of my favorite movies though.

Adaptation, Fifth Element (seem to remember that not doing well in theaters).
