Anything that can uplift you, tear you up, have you play the scene in your head, or at put you at ease...

I gotta say the theme music of Terminator 2: Judgement Day always gets to me. Those military-like metallic drums and the sobering somber melody articularly portray very different emotions on the spectrum simutaneously- melancholy, determination, lonliness, love, and hope.

Runnerups go to:
Braveheart, when Wallace yells 'freedom' (I own both regular OST and More Music OST)
Matrix 1- Rob D.- Clubbed to Death Played when Morpheus first demonstrates what matrix is to Neo, where a girl in red dress is shown. Perfect for pumping you up
Gladiator - Now We Are Free

Actually, the main theme music is quite nice.

I just find it disturbing because romance movie scores make you play the beautiful relationships of the couple in your head.

While I appreciate the music, I just can't picture of two men while listening to it

The score from Platoon, especially the part when they're taking off in the chopper while their soldier was being overrun on the ground.

Edit: I am such an idiot that can't read.

Scores: Hamburger Hill at the scene where they actually take the hill in the end.

Fellowship of the Ring: The Ring Goes South, A Journey in the Dark, and The Bridge of Khazad-dum

That three song sequence reminds me of when I figured out how awesome that movie was :D

There is this foreign song that's played in every epic movie (esp in commercials), it sounds like Opera. I know I'm not giving you guys much but maybe someone knows what it is.

It's probably the main theme ('Oh, fortuna!') from Carl Orff's musical poem-setting thing, 'Carmina Burana'

They love playing that in sports ads.

Platoon

"Adiago for Strings" by Samuel Barber

The notable Platoon music has also been used in Homeworld for the PC, and in several documentries. Probably most noteworthy is the 9/11 documentary, they used his piece for more of a dramatic flair.

I love that piece.

If I ever kill myself, I'll probably do it to that music.

See my post in in this thread. Look at the scores in bold.

A few exmaples...

Black Hawk Down: Last scene before the credits. Lisa Gerrard starts singing as they close the plane door with the flag-draped caskets in the foreground.

Ruiz-My love, you're strong and you'll do well in life. I love you and my children deeply. Today and tomorrow, let each day grow and grow. Keep smiling and never give up even when things get you down. So in closing my love. Tonight tuck my children in bed warmly. Tell them I love them, and then hug them for me and give them both a kiss goodnight for Daddy.

Empire of the Sun: "P-51, Cadillac of the Sky!" Nuf said.

LOTR:FOTR: Right after Gandalf falls, the action sounds stop, they all run across the bridge, all you can hear are the arrows bouncing off the canyon walls, and then the choir starts!

Field of Dreams: Dad and son play catch, wife comes out of the house, and throws the switch for the field lights. (I start crying here.)

Chariots of Fire: Famous opening credits.

Blade Runner: "I have seen things you people wouldn't believe...attack ships on fire off the shore of orion..."

1492: Conquest of Paradise: Columbus jumps off of the boat and his feet splash in the waters of the New World.

Gettysburg: Charge, Bayonets! Or the scene when General Lou Armistead talks to General Longstreet about the days before the war, singing around the piano with his best friends the night some would go North, some South. Only to come together to kill each other, to kill their brothers. (I start crying here!)

The Princess Bride: "Their kiss is rated one of the five purest, most romantic kisses of all time."

The Natural: "Roy, knock the cover off the ball."

Crash: "It's okay, Daddy. It's a really good cloak!"

The Right Stuff: The scene where Yeager breaks the sound barrier and does a loop in his X-1.

Band of Brothers: After the battle of Bastogne, Easy Company rests in the church, indoors for the first time in a month. They are sung to sleep by a French choir before moving off in trucks the next morning. Watch the truck scene again and listen for the clarinet! (I start crying here!)

Star Wars: ROTJ: The throne room scene where Vader and Luke battle for the last time. "You have a twin sister...Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me, now his failure is complete. If you will not turn to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will!" The battle begins and the bass-choir comes up! OMG!!!!

All of these powerful scenes would be half of what they are if not for the music and the genius of the composers who wrote it.

Another wonderful example, but Barber did not write that piece specifically for that movie or any movie.
