Tonight my wife and I saw Wall-E and were under whelmed. The last couple of flicks KF Panda and Indiana J were the same way. Iron Man was the only exception where I felt entertained. I plan on going this weekend with both of my boys to see Hellboy II but I?m not expecting much. What?s with Hollywood lately? Are they reflecting the same malaise as the economy?

Definitely understand what you mean about the indiana jones movie. I was waiting for something to happen that just never happened. Whatever that mysterious something was that never happened is forever lost... SIGH...

Iron Man was good :) Exceeded expectations. (Seeing no trailers beforehand helps).

I agree about the no trailers idea but some flicks arn't even trailerable if that even a word.

Hellboy II has gotten very good reviews, and next weekend we get Batman. Combine those two with Iron Man (and to a lesser extent Hulk) and we have some fun summer movies. Hmmm...they're all comic book movies too. Interesting.

Yes, there are a lot of sharty movies that get released, but we still get some good ones on occasion.

I thought Wanted was pretty good...... Iron Man was well done...I didn't expect it to be that good.

I agree with Indiana Alzheimer's. The plot was weak and the chase scenes were better in previous movies.

Wall-E is another animated movie attempting to grab families. People want to take their kids to the movies and not worry about violence....animation sells. Don't be disappointed when there's a lack of content. It's not like you're going to hear Ebert & Roeper reviewing how good a stupid graphic is going to be nominated for an Oscar.

Just save your movie money for Dark Knight. I wouldn't waste it on anything until then. Just be aware that concept may beat out wow-factor in that movie. Batman's already been done too many times for things to be too new and with CGI, special affects are less and less impressive these days.

Let's see, the last few movies I've seen in the theatre:

Iron Man - Lots of fun, really enjoyed it.

Kung-fu Panda - Average at best. I chuckled maybe three times and I even thought some of the animation was lacking.

Sex and the City - Was dragged there by woman. It was actually kind of a depressing movie.

The Strangers - Not bad, pretty enjoyable for the genre.

Wanted - Pretty fun action flick. Didn't blow me away or anything, but I enjoyed it.

Chronicles of Narnia 2 - Dragged there by kids I was taking care of. I almost fell asleep. Though certain shots in the movie did look really cool, the overall story was boring and predictable.

So I guess I'm shooting 50% there (better if you exclude the ones I was dragged to), but to be honest, this is not my favourite time of year for movies, I much prefer the fall when more of the smaller, dramatic pictures come out.

Wall-E didn't appeal to me so I give it a meh. I think that it was a well made movie but it was more childish like with a mish mash of adult themes and jokes.
It seems that Hollywood is concentrating on movies that bring in the masses and make them a buck. Computer graphics will help with that almost every time.
I wish that they would rather make classics that people would talk about in the years to come. Not many movies like that nowadays.

Have you seen The Incredible Hulk? It wasn't as good as Iron Man, but it was still entertaining. Awesome fight scenes.

IMHO, Minimize or eliminate CGI & SFX and put the $ in a well written story and good acting.

I'd go over mine but I can't even remember half the movies I've seen without a list of the movies that've come out this summer .

I'm going to see Hellboy 2 today and the trailers have me not expecting much (horrible, horrible trailers), but maybe that's a good thing if it's better than I expect. It probably would've been a good idea to watch the original last night :p.

I thought it was pretty underwhelming overall. Definitely wasn't nearly as good as Iron Man.

I'm surpried by the number of people I've talked to that are going to see this. I wouldn't have expected it to have very broad appeal.

What the hell do I know though, I'm going to see The Happening after work.

They're probably banking on it being another decent comic book movie to come out this year :p.

I really hope it's the woman dragging you to that one too, Mr. Talent. :p
